Create
your Cruisebook pages in any of your favorite graphics programs
such as
Corel Draw, MS Publisher or one of the many others available
It is best to save the entire page as a high definition .jpg image. Insure the image is saved in 4 color CMYK
If it is a RGB image, as is the case with images from
most digital cameras, use PhotoShop, Corel Photo or another Photo editor to convert the entire page to CMYK
The images of the pages could get up to 15MB or greater in size. Make sure there is no problem with this!
It is very likely that the pages will look dark once in 4
colors. Do not be concerned, the Publisher can adjust the image as needed,
so that it looks fantastic in your Cruise book.
Also discuss with the Publisher the possibility that a Compact Disk or DVD's is placed in jackets at the
rear of your Cruise book. You will likely be requested to create the working
Master. Most disk can have a label printed on it, make sure to make your desires known

As the Sysadmin or Computer Wizard of
the ship, Marine Corps unit, or other particular unit/section, you
will have surely have had experience sending files by ftp. Keep in mind
that some publishers provide specialized software or have an
easy method to accomplish this task.
Make sure that you have the proper login / passwords to be able to ftp your cruise book material to the Publisher
Make
sure that the Publisher advises you as to the quality of the
files. Do not send Word or Power Point files. These are writing
and presentation tools that have little do with Publishing. The
person that needs to sent the files should be aware that he is doing so
from behind some of the world's most secure firewalls, which can be
difficult to work with at times
Insure
that a backup method of delivering the files to the Publisher exists,
should ftp not be possible. Is is worth it to courier a CD/DVD to
the Publisher
Want to
use a another software or method? Discuss this with the
Publisher at the estimate stage not later
